A Brief History

The Golf Collectors Society is an international organization dedicated to preserving the treasures and traditions of the game of golf. Founded in 1970 by Robert Kuntz and Joseph S.F. Murdoch, the organization today has over 1400 members from 15 different countries. The philosophy of the Society was and has always remained "a not for profit fraternal organization that encourages members to visit, share information, and to establish friendships based on a common interest, the love of golf.

Collecting the Game

The GCS unites those who have a love for the game of golf and its artifacts. Members collect hickory shafted golf clubs, balls, books, tees, ceramics, silver, art, programs, postcards, early golf magazines, and autographs to name just a few. If it was used in the game of golf or portrays the game of golf, it's likely a GCS member collects it!

Society Members

GCS members come from all walks of life. Tour and club pros, notable golf writers, the curators of the world's most prominent golf museums, the guy who lives down the block, all share in the same common interest - golf and the memorabilia associated with it.

Membership Benefits

Membership in the GCS brings many benefits. Each member receives a Membership Directory and our magazine, The Bulletin, which is published on a quarterly basis. It includes golf history, featured collections and collectors, book reviews, unusual clubs and artifacts, and general news on Society doings. Members are also welcome to attend the frequent Regional Meetings held in every part of the country, as well as the Annual Meeting, held yearly in the early fall.

Annual Dues

Dues are based on a calendar year and are:
$50 for US residents, $55 for Canadians, and $60 for overseas members.
