The weather forecast for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter's annual "hickory tournament" on Saturday, September 30, 2006 was for overcast in the morning with afternoon showers. However, as Fearless Leader John Whittemore stood on the tee at 10:00 hours, a wee mist engulfed us. By the time the lead group reached #4, the rain had stopped and all were quite happy about that.

This was the umpteenth time Stableford Competition had been contested at the Falls Road "Muni" in Potomac, Maryland. Fearless Leader Whittemore played in the first-ever chapter "hickory tournament" in 1979 (also at Falls Road), and has won on several occasions.

Howsoever, winners this year were John Myler and Dick Johns. Tournament Director Glenn Moore presented the Nevin Gibson Trophy for the winning gross score to Mr. Myler and the Searchers Trophy for the winning net score to Mr. Johns.
