There is a bit of a break in the hickory tournament schedule over the winter months. However, several events of note are coming up soon.
The Fourth Annual Southern Hickory Tour Ball Tournament hosted by Tad Moore will be played on March 31 and April 1, 2006 at The Field Golf Course in LaGrange, Georgia. Practice rounds will be played on Thursday, March 30 and the competition will held on Friday and Saturday. Golfers from all over the United States, as well as a few from the United Kingdom, will gather for the event. The tournament is played with hickory shafted clubs, including reproductions from Heritage Golf and Tad Moore Classics. The players will wear period clothing to replicate as closely as possible play from that period. The tournament will be played by the Rules of the Society of Hickory Golfers.
The North Florida Hickory Tournament hosted by John and Alys Gates will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the St. Johns County Golf Course. The tournament format will be a two-person partner event of 27 holes nine holes each of best ball, scramble and alternate shot. Tee times will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday morning. Dinner will be at the Gates residence following the golf. Clubs will be available and partnerships can be arranged.
